Terms of Sale and Refund Policy

Revised: 17 September 2026

Who sells Cowork Island

Cowork Island is a macOS menu bar app made by Daniel Pau Castro Engström, an independent developer based in Spain. He builds the app, but he does not process your payment.

All purchases are handled by Polar Software Inc. (Polar) acting as merchant of record. That means Polar is legally the seller: Polar charges you, applies and remits VAT or sales tax for your country, and issues your invoice or receipt. Your purchase is governed by Polar's Buyer Terms, which include Polar's refund policy.

What you buy

The product, permitted number of Macs, price, currency and applicable taxes are shown at checkout before you pay. The checkout total is authoritative. There are no subscriptions.

You are buying a license to use the software, not ownership of the software itself. A Pro license covers the number of Macs named in your purchase that you own or control. The full license terms are in the End User License Agreement.

After payment, Polar emails you a license key. Enter it in the app to activate your purchase.

The 7-day free trial

You can try Cowork Island Pro free for 7 days. No card and no account are needed: you start the trial from inside the app. The trial is anchored to each Mac, so it can be used once per machine.

When the trial ends, nothing is charged, because there is nothing to charge. The app simply returns to the permanent free tier: one session card at a time, with Celestial and Clawd Classic creatures. You can buy Pro then, later, or never.

Refunds and the EU 14-day withdrawal right

Because Polar is the seller, refunds are governed by Polar's refund policy, which is part of Polar's Buyer Terms.

If you are a consumer in the EU, online purchases generally carry a 14-day right of withdrawal. For digital content supplied without a physical medium, that right can be lost when supply begins only if the applicable legal conditions are met, including your prior express consent and acknowledgment that you will lose the right. Receiving a license key alone does not establish that those conditions have been met. See the EU guidance on withdrawal.

To request a refund:

If Polar grants a refund, the refunded license may be revoked. Once the app receives a valid revocation, the corresponding entitlement is removed; any other valid purchase remains yours.

Nothing on this page limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

Keeping your purchase

Your purchased license does not expire and does not require a subscription. Once activated, its entitlement can be verified locally without a continuous connection to the license server. Connected integrations and optional network features have their own requirements, described in the Privacy Policy.

You can retrieve your license key from the Polar customer portal or your original purchase email. Before activating it on a replacement Mac, free a seat if your purchase's activation limit has been reached. Future upgrades are not promised by this purchase; your statutory rights to necessary updates remain unaffected.
