End User License Agreement

The short version

• A purchase grants a perpetual license to the purchased version: one payment, no subscription.
• Your Pro license covers the 1, 2 or 3 Macs named in your purchase that you own or control.
• Do not redistribute, resell, or share the app or your license key.
• The app includes open-source components, credited in the app's Acknowledgments.
• Nothing here takes away your statutory consumer rights.

License grant

This agreement is between you and Daniel Pau Castro Engström, an individual software publisher (sole trader) based in Spain, called "the publisher" below. It covers Cowork Island, called "the app": a macOS menu bar app that shows the live status of supported AI-agent sessions in a panel at the top of your screen.

When you buy Cowork Island Pro or a creature pack, the publisher grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to install and use the purchased version with the features you purchased. A Pro license covers the number of Macs named in your purchase: 1, 2 or 3, owned or controlled by you. A creature pack is a separate content license with its own activation limit, as stated at purchase; it does not increase the number of Macs on your Pro license. Purchased entitlements do not expire and can be verified locally once activated.

The purchase itself is processed by Polar (Polar Software Inc.) as the merchant of record: Polar is legally the seller, issues your invoice or receipt, and the sale is governed by Polar's terms and refund policy. This agreement governs how you may use the app once you have it.

What you may not do

• Redistribute, resell, rent, lease, or sublicense the app, or make it available to third parties in any other way.
• Share your license key outside its permitted seats, or use it on more Macs than your purchase allows.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except to the extent the law expressly permits it despite this restriction.
• Remove or alter copyright, trademark, or attribution notices in the app.

Trial and free tier

You can try Cowork Island Pro free for 7 days, no card required. The trial is anchored to each Mac, so reinstalling the app or clearing its settings does not restart it.

If you never buy anything, the app keeps working forever on a permanent free tier: one session card at a time, with Celestial and Clawd Classic creatures.

The trial and the free tier are licensed under this agreement too. Everything in it applies to them, except the parts that only make sense for a purchase.

Pro adds the Laboratory and Aviary collections. Office and Abyss packs are separate purchases and work on either plan. See the Terms of Sale for purchase information and the Privacy Policy for data handling.

Third-party components

The app includes third-party open-source components. They are credited in the app's Acknowledgments, and each one keeps its own license. In particular, the app includes code from the CodeIsland project under the MIT license, with its notice retained.

Updates

The publisher may release updates from time to time, at the publisher's discretion. Updates are covered by this agreement. Your purchase covers the purchased version; it does not promise specific future features or every future upgrade. If the law of your country entitles you, as a consumer, to the updates needed to keep the app in conformity, that right is not affected.

Termination

You may end this license at any time by deleting the app. The publisher may end it if you materially breach it, for example by redistributing the app or sharing license keys. If that happens, you must stop using the app and delete your copies.

Termination does not affect your statutory consumer rights, including any refund rights the law gives you.

Warranty and liability

The app is provided "as is", to the extent the law allows. The publisher does not promise that it will be free of bugs or that it will never be interrupted.

Nothing in this agreement limits or excludes any liability that the law does not allow to be limited or excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights, including the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content in the EU and Spain, remain fully intact.

Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of Spain. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live: you keep them, and where the law so provides, you may bring claims before your local courts.
